II Alicante Dancesport Challenge at FITUR

Alicante will once again host one of the biggest ballroom dance competitions with the celebration of the II Alicante Dancesport Challenge, on March 13, 14 and 15 at the Sports Technification Center of Alicante. In this event, it is expected that more than 6,000 dancers from different parts of the world and different modalities attend.
The competition was presented this Wednesday at the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (#Fitur) by the deputy mayor and councilor for Tourism, Mari Carmen Sánchez, and the Councilor for Sports, José Luis Berenguer.
Sanchez explained that "Alicante is once again the scene of one of the great ballroom dance competitions in the world with this second edition of the 'Alicante Dancesport Challenge' in which we expect some 6,000 to come to the city to compete athletes". Likewise, he stressed that
"Alicante once again hosts first level competitions,
ability to attract thousands of people who will make their stay in the city between one and two days with an impact from the economic point of view very important for the hotel, restaurant and leisure sector, because competitive sport is also a form of sightseeing".
"In this second edition (the Championship of Spain of 10 dances in the city has already been held) it is expected to widely exceed the more than one thousand participants registered in the first edition that Alicante hosted in 2011. On that occasion there were more than 500 couples registered for this event with dancers from all over Europe and from many other corners of the world who traveled to Alicante to demonstrate their skills.
